"Mind Set" "A Lesson If You're Thinking Of Going Into ANY Kind of Business" Last week some guy unsubscribed from my newsletter... Why? Did I say something to offend him? - (not intentionally) Did I try to sell something? - (no) Did he get out of bed on the wrong side? - (who knows) Actually the reason he gave was, "I'm not interested in your family...just give me the facts!" The trouble is I like talking about my family...Actually I had a well know direct marketer from the UK email me saying I was "crazy" talking about my family as I do... BUT let me tell you this... - It proves that I'm a real person...AND if you want to make money, whether its off or online, one of the biggest things you MUST do is build your relationship with your prospects. You have to be real. Take me for example...I'm not anyone special. I don't have any special talents. I certainly don't have any special qualifications. The only thing I left school with was an "O" level in woodwork! "The Only reason I Say ANY of This" The one and only reason I say any of this is; I believe, actually NO make that I KNOW, that if I can do this then anyone can. That said, you MUST have a certain "MIND SET".
You MUST have a "Can Do" attitude. By that I mean you must look at things and say to yourself, Now stay with me here as I am getting to the point. If you've been on my newsletter list for any time you'll will know by now that for the past 4 weeks I've been helping my sister out. She's recently bought a pub and I'm kind of over seeing the renovation work (as they have a very limited budget) Now I know that they say you should never work for friends & family - but what are you going to do when you see they need your help? So anyway this last 4 weeks I've spent EVERY spare minute I've had at this pub (it's needed a heck of a lot of work doing to it) And all the while my sister has done virtually nothing...except walk around and ask questions like, "When will that be done" & "What are you doing next" or "You've missed a bit"... All the while doing nothing practical herself. The final straw came as I was on my hands and knees sweeping up the dust from around the bar area while big sis watched with her arms folded! I asked her if she wanted a job? (Thinking she could help out) Her reply knocked me sideways! "No I don't want a job! - It's too dirty and my nails and...and...and..." All excuses! "No problem" I replied. "If you don't want a job then neither do I." And I promptly walked off the job and politely told her that if she wasn't prepared to put the effort in then neither was I. It's important to know:
AND my point is - AND - what has this got to do with you making money online? Well it's certainly not to bitch about my sister that's for sure. (Although this inside view goes someway to show you that we're perhaps not so different) So...This is the top and bottom of any success right here. Without wanting to make this sound too simple...You clearly need a goal in mind of what it is you want to achieve. Then... No matter what - You move heaven and hell to achieve your goal.
A well known marketer and colleague of mine told me this one time...He said, "James, imagine you're sat out in your garden and you see your neighbours car rolling down the road (as if the hand brake had slipped off) as you jump up you notice that the runaway car is heading for your car... So you jump in to action run to your garden gate, open it and chase the car thinking, I'll jump in and then pull the handbrake on. BUT then you start to think, what if I don't make it...what if I jump in and make things worse and get injured... Then you think, what the hell I'm insured...sod it let it hit the dam car. NOW what if the same thing happens...the car starts to roll...BUT instead of it rolling towards your car you notice it's rolling towards your 2 year old child... Here's what happens next: Without hesitation you jump in to action but this time you don't even see the gate...infact you don't see ANYTHING other than you leaping over the garden fence running straight out and scooping up your child to safety. The point being NOTHING would prevent you from achieving that goal. It's that same Motivated, Inventive, Non stop, Determined, Sacrifice, Entrepreneurial, Tenacious MIND SET that you need to succeed online. One thing for sure is YOU will run in to barriers: sometimes Physical, sometimes Mental, sometimes Financial... But that is all they are barriers...Go round - under - over or through - what ever, as long as you keep moving towards your goal.
